Biggest bunch of crooks the phone worked for two days then the battery died. I called the customer support a number of times of a four month period and each time they tell me they will send me a new a battery and then they tell me its out of stock for the next few months. They just continue to give me the run around.

Don't buy anything form this company bunch of crooks.

do not go near this phone. the screen display disintegrates, the static is terrible, the answering machine records messages at an inaudible volume, and the touchpad wears out, causing incomplete dialing. probably the worst phone ever made.

Do you recall scenes in comedy sketches where a character opens a box anticipating a great gift only to be surprised with a trick gag often landing the unsuspecting character a punch in the face? Well ... when I opened my Northwestern Bell cordless telephone with answering machine, my first thought was, "Did this initially retail for $106+?" I immediately knew I'd been duped. I had hoped for a bargain. Instead, I would have been better off burning the $42.05 I spent (with shipping and handling). The cheap plastic body was worse than the $3 toy telephone I gave my granddaughter years ago. I took a deep breath, read the instructions, and allowed the cordless to charge overnight. I took the first call the next day using the Northwestern Bell cordless. Do you know what happened? I felt as if I had a pie thrown in my face. The static was worse than the reception you might expect on toy walkie-talkies you'd buy for a three year old. The LED was faint and difficult to read, the incoming call volume was barely audible (even with the volume set on high), and the caller could not hear me well. I finally gave up and returned the call using my old telephone. I never bothered testing the answering machine. Why would I? Now for my advice. DO NOT BUY THE NORTHWESTERN BELL CORDLESS! In fact, if it is ever advertised for free, don't accept it. Remember, "The only 'free cheese' is in a mouse trap." While there is nothing wrong with shopping for a bargain (sometimes it does pay off), avoid labels/manufactures you're not familiar with. Also, ask others what their experience has been with a product/label you've not used before. Finally, a true bargain is a product which lives up to its reputation for quality and reliability. The bottom line lesson ... BUYER BEWARE!

"Not a good phone" 2007-03-01

I bought two of these phones, one for a Christmas present for my Mom and one for me, the one for a gift did not work right out of the box so I had to send it back for a refund. I kept the other and do I ever regret it! It has poor reception, and interference all the time. The answering machine is of poor quality as well, and will malfunction at times causing me to loose messages,and outgoing messages. I was also supposed to receive a rebate which still has not arrived,and am sceptical as to whether it will. Do yourself a favor, overlook this one!!

I'm ready to return this product. The instruction manual included does not appear to include the correct instructions to operate the phone. I cannot make the phone operate properly either with the instruction manual or by trial-and-error, and I am a former computer tech with plenty of time to go through the instructions. Even the time-setting instructions were incorrect in the manual. Are there people out there happy with this kind of device and this kind of service? I can't believe it, unless I was shipped some strange, one-off combination of defective phone and mis-printed manual. Back to China with this puppy.

About half of my conversations on this phone are interrupted by intermittent dead air lasting 3 seconds. The outgoing message that you record has terrible quailty, lots of static, whether recorded through the base or the handset. I found it difficult to figure out the function of all the buttons. I would like to have a date/time stamp on each message left. I don't like the overall design of the handset; it's not comfortable to hold in my small hand. I wish my husband would have read the reviews before purchasing this phone. I'm going back to using our good 5 year old GE 900 mHz (we replaced it only because one number button was wearing out). - Stephanie Neff

"Quality is just not there" 2008-08-04

I bought this phone and used it only a short time. The quality of

the phone is of a cheaper model. The battery went dead in a short time and

there always seemed to be problems with the phone charging. I had to

unplug and replug it in from time to time to get the message machine to

work. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. You don't get much

for your money these days. Very Disappointed with Bell.

I've always loved AT&T cordless phones and used since they were bulky & heavy . Lately, it has become increasingly difficult to find analog phones and I am glad AT&T (Viacom?) still make them. I don't know about the preference of other people, but for me, analog phones always provide better reception without the metallic tone. I have tried Uniden, which also makes great phones, and GE but again, I went back to AT&T. I sure hope it'd give me more functions such as chain dialing, but for this price, I am happy to settle with speaker phone on the handset. My top priority is always good reception, and AT&T phones have not disappointed me in this area.

"Poor sound quality in answering machine..." 2006-11-27

I love all the features that come with this phone so I hate to give it up. But it has always had muffled sound quality in the answering machine messages that are left by incoming callers. It has gradually gotten worse. It's impossible to understand what people are saying if you try to call in and pick up your calls from another location. I am hoping that by changing the battery this may improve. I have had this phone for 3 yrs.

Other reviews fairly reflected my feelings about the system. My complaint is the range from the base set to the handset. I live in a fairly large townhome. My baseset is at the front of the first floor and one of the handsets is at the rear of the second floor. The distance is only 80' plus 12' up. The handset can not communicate at that range. This is a normal house with regard to heating ducts, electrical wiring, etc.

AT&T cusomter service was great when I first brought this to their attention and even sent me a new base unit. I also tried different handsets, all to no avail.

My husband bought me this phone for Christmas to replace a V-tech model that had just wasn't working quite right for us.

I love this phone - the only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars is because there is one feature that I'd really like that seems to be missing, which is that the memory and caller-ID still don't communicate quite as much as I'd like.

The talking caller-ID function is great - no running around the house trying to find the phone just to figure out if I even want to answer. You can program in the names for your most frequent callers (which are recognized via caller-ID, even if they're not programmed the exact same way as your memory), and it can also be set up to announce full numbers of those who aren't in your memory, so you might still recognize the number without having to get to the actual phone.

The 5.8 GHz works great in our house. The 2.4 that we replaced had major interference with the microwave, but this one is terrific - no static at all, ever.

The piece that's still missing is the actual caller ID/memory interface. Even though you can program the talking bit, the caller ID always comes up as the official listing and not "mom", for example. This isn't bad, except that so many of my calls come in from "wireless caller", so I have to actually recognize the number. Again, the voice announce caller ID works, but if you happen to miss that (you're not close enough to the base when the phone rings, for example) then you're stuck with going, "Hmmm, I think that's my mother-in-law's cell number..." Back a few years and two phones ago, we had an AT&T model that DID include this feature, as do most cell phones. Also, that old phone had a feature that would allow you to customize outgoing messages to 10 numbers in caller ID, so that you could tell your buddy "Hey, meet me at 4:00 at the bar," but not let the whole world know where you were. That was cool, and I wish it was still a feature.

The speaker phone options work well, both from the base and from the handset. The base speaker could use a few more ticks on the volume - or maybe my house is just loud - but it does work great if you stay close. It's also nice because you can answer the phone from the base if you can't immediately find a handset - a typical problem in my house!

The digital answering machine function is also typically fine. There are 3 mailboxes, though we only use one. There are several ring tone options, and you can even have the handset vibrate.

All in all, this is a great phone. If you've had some issues with interference on a 2.4, this is a great upgrade.

"Good, but not quite perfect" 2003-12-15

After a friend of mine purchased the 5830 several months ago, I've been debating between the 5830 and 5840. After finding that the 5870 was released, I thought I had found my perfect phone.

Positives are pretty much what everyone as said:
- Solid feel
- Nifty blue lighting
- The clock in the display
- Sound quality is excellent while listening to the other end
- Speakerphone on the handset works very well. Used it on a few calls so far without any complaints. Makes those long conference calls less painful.
- Even though the 5870 is 5.8GHz / 2.4GHz, it doesn't appear to be interfering with the wireless network (802.11b). My old Panasonic Gigarange Extreme is 2.4GHz/900MHz, and it will occasionally knock me offline.
- Registering a second handset was very easy; just punch in the code from the bottom of the base unit on the new handset.
- Battery life appears good. Was on a 3.5-4 hour conference call and the handset still showed at least a half charge.

Negatives:
- while the handsets will set their clock from caller id, the base unit / answering machine requires manual setting
- there is no time display on the base unit, so setting the time must be done audibly. Not a bad process, but tedious. You must hit the "Change" button to iterate through the options instead of just punching in the numbers. For example, to set the time as 7:25 pm, you have to press the set time button, then press it again to go into set mode. First up is the day; hit Change and it will announce Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. for every press. Get to the correct day, then hit the set time button to go into hours. Change button again, starting from 12 am. Every press of Change will increment one hour. Get the proper hour (make sure AM/PM is right), then set time again to get to minutes. The Change button is then used to increment minute by minute. On the plus side, you can hit the button rapidly instead of listening to the voice announce every minute.
- Handsets will display the time in the idle screen, but not the date. The caller ID log does display the date.
- While on a call, you have no access to the clock on that handset. You just get options of Hold, Xfer, and Mute. If you place the call on hold and wait a few seconds, you'll get the time display though.
- There seems to be a very faint echo when I speak. Not obnoxious, but it's on both handsets and noticeable when compared to my other phones (Panasonic Gigarange Extreme and an old Nortel Meridian) which don't echo.
- No button available to change the channel. My Panasonic has it, and it's how I get the network functional again when the phone collides with the network.
-There is no call timer.
- Remote access code is only 2 digits. Yes, 2 digits. Seems rather poor security in my opinion.

Mixed feelings:
- A saved name / number in the phone's memory doesn't override the incoming caller id info. In other words, if you save a name, when the call comes in, only the caller id name shows, not the saved name. I think this has been touched on before.
- Each handset's memory (caller id log and stored phone book) is fully independent. That means no sharing of phone books between handsets, and clearing the log on one handset does nothing to the others.
- As said by others, caller id announce is only from base.
- If you screen calls, you have to be near the base to hear the caller leaving the message. There is no way to screen calls using only the handset.
- Caller id display seems somewhat slow to appear on the handset when a call comes in. It shows up line by line (name, number, time), unlike my other phones where all the information appears immediately.
- For some reason, if you have a headset plugged in, the handset will not allow you to switch to speaker phone. You have to unplug the headset, then hit the speaker phone button.
- You can only pickup messages on the answering machine from the base unit.

Overall, a good, solid phone, but it isn't quite perfect. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to keep it or return it and continue waiting for the perfect phone.

Sounds to me like a few of the people got a bad unit. Ours has been great - 2+ years and still strong, still like new. Never a problem, never an issue. Batteries lasted DAYS, reception was fine. Great for the price. If it doesn't have a feature you wanted, that's your research to blame, NOT the phone.

This model has VERY POOR sound quality -- no one can hear me unless I yell into the phone.

Have no options to replace phone since its functions are not included on all models. Purchased this phone because it had a particular function that was important to me (called "announce only: where it gives callers a message/information but will not take a message, thus will not exhaust incoming message space while on long trips). Very few phones have this function and the handset to my previous VTech phone had broken.

We bought this phone b/c a previous vtech phone served us well. This one, however is just missing too many key features that I took for granted. For instance, there is no speaker phone feature (was great for when I was put on hold) and the ringer volume control only works if you press it WHILE the phone is ringing, and then resets to "loud" for the next call - in my house the phone keeps waking up the baby and I can't set any handset or the base to silent mode. Also, switching to pick up call waitibg is a crapshoot, you never know if you will disconnect one or both people. If you want a totally stripped down phone, this might work for you. For anyone else, it's a step down.

Caller id is a pain because of 2 things. 1. it reads out the name the way your phone recieves it. So if a call comes in and it says wireless caller, it will read out wireless caller instead of the number. That doesn't do me any good. 2.To see the number of the wireless call you have to wait for it to scroll over to it. It doesn't appear underneathe it. I would not recommend this phone if you are a busy person and like to screen your calls.

Been using this phone and Handset combination for about a year primarily for business. Don't use the Answering machine, just let the local voice mail take unanswered calls. Speaker phone works great. The hand phone is used with a plantronics headset a foot and half away from the base - no issues. The hand set will start to beep once the battery goes low after 5-6 hours off the cradle. Otherwise, i'd like to purchase another unit.

I purchased this unit around Christmas and have mad only 1 audible call on the cordless handset. Even standing right next to the base the cordless has only static. The sound quality on the base is better but sound hollow or even tinney. I tried calling customer support at AT&T and found that it is non-existant. I'll be shopping for another GE or Uniden phone in the coming days.

I've been using this system for about a year, without any trouble at all. After several power outages and even moving across the country with it, my directory stayed in tact. The call quality on the speakerphone is good, I use it daily for business. The handset works even two floors away from the base. All around, for the money, a decent phone. I don't use the answering machine portion -- would have preferred it without -- but otherwise, a good phone.

There is no battery backup for the phonebook directory, so when power goes out, you lose the directory. The handset and the base phone have two -separate- directories; there is no synching. They also have two separate lists of missed calls. It's just a very poorly designed unit.

"Battery Is NOW Going" 2009-11-24

I bought this phone in 2004 in NY and thought it was over priced, but I wanted a cordless that I didn't have to pull an antenna up on ;D, and that had a good solid feel to it. The handset is something you don't want to have experiment with on the fly if you're on a call because you will fumble the options. Once you know where they are and what they do and you've cut off a few calls, you get it. I've moved to AZ and find that in one corner of the house it sounds like I'm speaking through a tunnel when on the phone. Other than that, I find the sound quality to be excellent.

This phone is being used in a home office. It will handle conference calls and transfers from the base. It does take more room than the newer phones do on your desk, and the handset is larger. The display window lights up for easy reading, and the fonts are a good size. As another customer mentioned, you don't get the CID feature on the base. I've had this phone for almost 6 years and have never had a problem with it. It's only now that I'll need to replace the battery b/c it's just starting to give me trouble, not fully charging.

This is not an attractive phone, but it is a good, solid, reliable one.

Usually, I just write 'warning' reviews, but, since we have had this phone for over two years without one iota of trouble - here goes something different. Oh, and add to that, we bought it and two extra handsets, refurbished, for $195 total - it has been one great investment.

We use one line for a land line (that we maintain for infrequent calls, conferencing, faxing and TiVo's automatic daily calls) and the second line to hook up a Dock-N-Talk so that our cell phones automatically sync up and can make use of all the handsets for incoming and outgoing cell phone calls (the phone makes use of the cell provider's caller ID and displays and remembers the incoming cell numbers).

Yes, the menu is a bit of a pain, but we have totally gotten used to it. Yes, the 'missed calls' notification on the unused handsets is dumb. Yes, having individual phone books on each handset without a 'copy' feature is a time waster. BTW, someone said something about not having battery back-up, and while that is true, it does have flash memory and no messages are lost when there is a power failure.

With all that said; we find the sound quality to be quite good and so do those we speak with (no interference of any kind, even in our heavily laden electronics playground); the range is great, we can go all over the backyard and garage, in the car (I was working with a Sirius rep on my car's reception) with no loss of signal. Like I said, two years later and it is still going strong.... and, the letters and numbers do not even wear off!

"Good reliable phone, but not enough handsets" 2008-09-20

I have been using this phone for a couple of years now, but I'm back on the market for a replacement. Why? Because this phone only allows up to 3 accessory handset units plus the base. (Four phones altogether.) I now live in a big house and I need more phones.

If it were not for that limitation, it would be worth my money to keep this phone.

Strengths:

1) Some people report that phones of this type (what ever the brand) may not work next to your computer if you have a wireless network. I have heard that some customer support reps will advise users to place their phone at least 15 feet away from the computer, which is absurd when you're using the phone in a home office, where you use the computer daily. I don't know if anyone has ever reported such a problem with the KX-TG6500 but I have never had any problem with its reception at all. The sound is good enough for me. The Panasonic manual DOES warn you to place the phone away from your computer, which is perplexing given that many people need phones next to their computers. Maybe it all depends on the type of network you have.

2) I love the blinking light that flashes at the top of the antennas of each phone. If you have headphones on you might see the light flashing and know the phone is ringing. The light also flashes if someone has left you a message.

3) I have two distinct phone numbers, and this is a 2-line phone. The base and all the handsets accommodate 2 lines. I have set up all phones with a distinctive ring BASED ON WHICH LINE IS CALLED. Surprisingly, some multi-line phones cannot do this, even when they sport distinctive rings. It is very important to me that if someone calls line 2, it rings differently from someone calling line 1. In fact it's a deal-breaker, so as I search for a new phone, I'm trying to find the same functionality.

4) The cordless phone I replaced was an older Southwestern Bell Freedom Phone. Which by the way was JUNK. The Freedom Phones LCD displays die after 8-12 months -- little by little the bars fry, until pretty soon you can't see anything on the screen. I replaced 3 of the Freedom Phones under warranty and they died also. I finally gave up. So I am very happy to report that I never had any problem with the LCD displays in the Panasonic KX-TG6500.

Weaknesses:

1) Despite that the Southwestern Bell Freedom Phone was junk, they did get one design right: you can program a banner for each handset, so that when you call a handset, you get the banner name on your phone. For example, name the handset in the living room as "LIVING ROOM" and intercom it from your home office by selecting "LIVING ROOM" on the display. Seems a no-brainer. The KX-TG6500 *cannot do this.* You have to intercom it by *number.* That means you need to remember which phone is in which room. And if they get switched by a busy wife who doesn't remember which number goes in which room, you're bound to get irritated. The Uniden TRU9466 2-Line Expandable Cordless System with Dual Keypad and Call Waiting/Caller ID and other phones have the same banner / intercom feature as the Freedom Phone did, which is good.

2) As I mentioned, the Panasonic is limited to a network of 4 phones total (the base plus 3 accessory handsets). No more.

3) The phone book is a little irritating. Sometimes I have to press more buttons to call someone from the phone book than I would if I just posted their number on my desk and dialed them straight. Kind of defeats the purpose. Sometimes I get lost in a maze trying to find someone by not entering the phone book because I'm in a rush, and I wind up in some other function. Really, why wouldn't they design a phone book button? Why make us push Menu, then the down button, then Select, then the down button a hundred times to find our name? Wouldn't it make more sense to push a phone book button and then the first and second letter of the person's name? You'd think.

4) The mute button doesn't have any light or indicator that it's turned on.

5) My old Freedom Phone, as well as the Uniden TRU9466 and others, allow you to "intercom" ALL the other handsets at the same time. Makes sense, if you don't know which room your wife is in. Can't do that with Panasonic KX-TG6500. You have to call one handset at a time, by number, until someone answers. Which is really annoying when you're trying to transfer a call on a busy day.

6) This and many other phones with an "intercom" feature don't have a way to actually broadcast. For example it would be more helpful if I could just literally intercom all the handsets so that they automatically broadcast my voice as speaker phones. That way I can make announcements to the whole house, or to one or another phone, without someone having to pick up the handset. This phone doesn't do that, nor do any of the other phones I've researched so far.

Overall, this phone system does what I need it to do, and I won't go over many of the general positives and negatives here. Here are my specifics:

1) No caller-ID on the base unit. My previous Panasonic 2740 had this...why did they get rid of it? (more on the 2740 later)

2) Doesn't remember your caller-ID redial settings. i.e. all my calls show the full area code, but when I want to dial, I have to press call, then edit, to get it to dial without the area code. My 2740 system remembered my edit settings (or maybe it's just the way called ID comes in now with Vonage).

So why did I upgrade from the 2740 I liked so much? Because of an annoying popping noise when both lines were in use. It was a great system for 3 years...I had 5 phones with it and it worked perfectly. Then one day, line 2 got a popping noise on the line whenever line 1 was also in use. This simply would not go away no matter what I tried (unplugging, pulling phone batteries to reset them, checking the lines, etc.) I tried another 2-line system and confirmed it was the phone itself, not the lines.

So after almost 2 more years, my new TG6502 system (same as 6500 but with an extra handset included), the same thing starts happening a couple days ago. It's fixed for now, but for how long I don't know. I pulled the batteries from every handset, unplugged the base for a couple minutes, and all seems to be good for now. Only time will tell...and my wife...when she tries to use her line to talk with people. Hopefully this is the end of my ordeal, but I absolutely long for the day when someone other than Panasonic has a decent 2-line phone system that doesn't die after a couple years. I'm not looking forward to another $300-400 system in my house.

UPDATE: Well, long story short, the Vonage adapter I was using for my 2 phone lines was the culprit. When this came up, I was also in progress of finding a new VOIP provider. Switched to SunRocket, plugged in their adapters to run two phone lines, and voila...no problem! I'm betting my old system was fine too. Fortunately found someone on Craigslist to finally take that off my hands and get it out of my closet for $100.

I've owned the KX-TG5100M for three years now with a total of four handsets. Sure, I had to replace the original batteries after the first year ($70 for four NiMhs from Panasonic), but otherwise I've had no other problem with it. I've used the intercom feature on it a lot to talk to family members on different floors, and we've even used one of the handsets in a "baby monitor" fashion (while in the charging cradle even!) with out any problems. My only disappointments are, that the base unit's speaker phone has no mute function and that the handset's speaker phone function won't work while it's sitting in the charging cradle. Having skimmed most of the previous reviews, my comments are: I live in N. Illinois where there lightning storms and you absolutely need to use a surge protector on BOTH the AC line AND the telephone line (in the past I've lost at least one base unit [different makes], and in another case I had to replace the surge protector, which saved the telephone base unit I might add [much cheaper], after a nearby lightning strike took it out); also, when you buy an additional additional handset, you have to place it in cradle on the base unit for a few moments (assuming the new handset's battery has been fully charged!) in order for the base unit to "recognize" the new handset. e.g.[ASIN:B000NCTIE4 Cordless Phone Surge Protector]]

I bought this phone used, on eBay, about 2 1/2 years ago. I did a lot of reading before I bought it and found that there is a known issue with battery life of the handsets. For everyone that has mentioned battery life, there is a solution.

When I bought the phone, the station with 2 handsets was $60 on eBay. I immediately ordered 2 Energizer ER-P511 NiMH batteries to replace the Panasonic throw aways. I had the battery life problem with my previous Panasonic phone set, but, this set never dies! My family has talked for hours on a single charge and left the handset in a few interesting places, only to be found again with the paging system and plenty of battery life. At 2 hours of talk time, it still shows two bars.

The voice quality is not the best, but, it's not bad either. I use Vonage and no one can tell that I'm not on a traditional line. It's definately better than any of the 2.4 GHz phones out there.

The range is more than I need so I can't complain about it. I can go to the corner of my back yard on the opposite side of the house from the base station and experience minimal static. I've gone so far as to walk to the end of our street (a cul de sac) and still had enough coverage to carry a conversation, although it was a weak signal at that point.

Overall, I would have given the phone 5 stars if I didn't have to provide my own batteries to make it useable.

The phone works great, although the headset volume could be a little "hotter." I don't program #'s in the phone or base station, so I can't comment there. The answering machine works fine and sounds good. The handset and base station speakers are acceptable for talking to friends and family, but I wouldn't hold a work conference call on either if I could avoid it. My house is on a 1 acre lot and the handset maintains clear communication anywhere on my property.

As mentioned in other reviews, the handset batteries are horrible, but they can be easily replaced with ER-P511 NiMH from Energizer. I've been unable to run that battery down. If the batteries from Panasonic were worth anything, I'd have given the phone 5 stars.

Probably my 4th VTech phone. Was having wireless LAN interference trouble with my other Vtech, so even though it still worked fine, I upgraded to this one. The best feature is the common phoneboook. Enter a number in one phone and its available in the others. Reception is great, and due to the frequency, no more LAN troubles. The only down side is the size of the buttons, a bit small for me.

I've been researching this unit for some time, reading mixed reviews and also comparing it to similar brands. Well, my son suggested that I go on ahead and buy the unit -- if it doesn't work, send it back. So I got it and can only say good things about this phone. Also purchased 2 of the mi6820 (additional handsets) for that expandable/wireless affect. Reception and clarity is great - no static. I've taken the phone outside and walked the entire 100x100 feet of our home and didn't receive not so much as a blip of static.

Love the options on the phone i.e., changing ring tones for each phone, intercom, transferring phone calls from handset to handset, ability to share phone books, caller ids and editing those items having it affect all 3 handsets at once. I think it would be nice if you could hit the Redial button and make a call from any of the handsets not just the handset you originally made the call from. I guess I'm looking for some sort of multi-redial feature. Not a big deal. Also would be very nice to have the phone pager built into the mi6820. With the belt clip V-Tech provides, my husband and son have a habit of taking the phones wherever then we have a grand time of playing the Secret Squirrel game -- trying to locate the darn thing :) The mi6861 does have the phone pager built within the unit. Enjoying the answering machine options on the mi6861 i.e., multi-mail box feature. We created a simple message and we all seem to be receiving messages quite well. The unit is quite easy to operate and skipping through and deleting messages one at a time or all at once is easy.

All in all - nice little phone for the money

The Panasonic KXTGA550M is an extra handset to the base unit KX-TG5561. It includes a phonebook that can store 50 numbers.

If you have caller ID, you can set this phone up to behave like email anti-SPAM where all emails not in your address book go to the junk mail folder. In this case, all phone calls that are not in your phonebook are silent and will go to your message system if you have one.

You can do this because the phone can select the ring based on caller ID and because you can record custom rings with a special cable included with the KX-TG5561.

The first step to setting up selective ring is to record a ring consisting of silence. Assign this as the default ring. Turn off the base unit ring and talking caller ID. By default, there will now be no sound.

Next add the numbers you want to ring to your phone book and assign them a non-silent ring. You can also add phone numbers that use the default or silent ring so that they do not ring.

Now only the numbers you specify will ring. When expecting an important call from an unknown number, just temporarily change the default ring to a non-silent ring.

My old 2 - Line phone system would not hold a charge. I'd miss calls because when I picked up the phone, even if it indicated bars on the handset, it would just "die" on the spot.

The Uniden TRU9465-2 5.8 system is working out just GREAT.

I had the second handset off of the base for 3 days before I noticed it lost (1) bar. I accidentally dropped the handset and the battery panel flew off but nothing was broken. Put it back together and it is working fine.

I love Uniden and their products. When my last phone went dead a year ago I was devestated. I had had it for years and every new one I tried had bad sound quality and interferenc. Until this awesome purchase. This phone has everything and is everything I need. The 5.8 GHz technology provides excellent sound quality all the time. I have the main base on my desk and the extra handset by my bed. I have had this phone for over a year now and after its initial charge the phones have always worked perfectly. I keep them in the bases when not in use of course.

I have caller id thru my phone company and it displays perfectly on the base and handset. if I am on the phone and get a call it will also show that number. The handsets are perfectly shaped and fit my ear and mouth perfectly. The speed dial is so easy to install and use.

I praise everything about this sleek, attractive, user friendly telephone set. Uniden is the best and purchase this phone for the highest quality and zero problems.

I have had no problems with this phone so far. I have had it 3 or 4 weeks. I especially like the feature that allows you to copy numbers in the "phone book" from one phone to the next with just a touch of a button. Though this phone is fairly simple. I probably will buy another hand set, a third phone, later.

i wish i could give it no stars- straight out of the box it was charged for 15 hours as required, and after that, we can't use it. it keeps saying "out of range" and it does NOT have an answering machine!!!

This phone replaces the Panasonic system, which I returned to Amazon (and received full credit for...they always come through!) a month or so back.

I originally had a Uniden system with a base and one other station, which went dead after 3-4 years. I got "adventurous" and ordered the Panasonic as a replacement...what a mistake. I already wrote a review on that piece of plastic junk, so new use in rehashing it here. Besides, this is a review of the Uniden system, and in a word, it's "perfect."

The sound quality is outstanding, set up is intuitive and easy, the phone feels substantial without being bulky...and it works!!! Really, nothing more needs to be said...this phone is perfectly suited to my home and home office needs. I did learn one lesson though...stick with a winner. When this one bites the dust (and they all do at some point), I'll replace it with another Uniden system. I guess I can't give a better recommendation than that, can I?

We've had this phone for a few years now and it's been working just fine. Zero problems with signal or static or battery life. For your basic making and receiving calls, it's been flawless.

There's a few changes I'd make to this phone:

1) battery backup in the base unit so you don't have to re-set the time. I have way too many things to reset the time on after a power outage.

2) Allow using both handsets simultaneously

3) Add speakerphone

4) allow it to work with additional headsets

5) share speed-dial settings between phones so you don't have to program them twice

It doesn't matter where I stand in my home the static is so bad it hurts my ears when I'm on this phone. On top of being bad with static, during a normal 15 minute conversation the sound gets muted somehow so that I can barely hear the other person on the phone - I have tried adjusting the volume or walking to different areas of the home but none of that seems to matter - the person's voice fades in and out on it's own. Sometimes it is so difficult to hear a person that I have to hang up and recall them. After a certain amount of time their voice will fade out (like it's been muted) again but when you least expect it, the voice comes back through normally. This phone is basically useless as a tool for communication. I went back to Target to purchase a new one and mostly only saw Uniden phones (a product I will never buy again)! Searching online now for something that will actually work.

I purchased this phone about 8 months ago from target. The phone has worked wonderfully for me. Some of the other reviewers gave it bad rankings because of lack of certain features, well you get what you pay for. This is not a $150 phone system.

It does what it says it does and it does it good. I am pretty happy with the reception, the digital voicemail machine and ability to remotely access yoru message.

Great phone for a good price.

This phone is a piece of garbage. The most important aspect of a phone is its clarity during conversations. This phone has loud persistent static even when near the base station that makes conversing on it irritating and unenjoyable. All the other features on this phone are moot considering the terrible static. I will be smashing the phone to pieces once I get my new Panasonic 6.0 DECT.

The other reviewers are correct that the range is very poor with lots of static. Also, only one handset can be used at a time, which limits the usefulness of having multiple handsets. Calls can be transferred from one handset to another, but you cannot use more than one handset at any time to talk.

This phone was cheap for a reason, and it does a disservice to the Uniden name.

I bought this phone, actually DXA/5688-3 from Target for about $70. Tried it for a week and it's going right back. Reception was terrible. It would get fuzzy not even 25 feet away. I should have known better. My last phone, a Panasonic was great. Replaced the battery 3x over 5 years. Figured it was time for an upgrade. I am going to return this one and go with the KX-TG1033. I should have stuck with the Panasonic to begin with.

"Ok for seven months" 2008-06-25

I've had these phones for seven months. They have worked fine until now, no static. One of the phones just crapped out, works a little then goes dead. It gives a message that says, "Welcome! Please wait..." and shows a message 'line on hold'. The only reason for this I can think of is that because it is a phone that was used a lot but never left off the base, the battery never had a chance to discharge and recharge. But, I don't know if this kind of phone needs to do that.

we have these phones and the range is horrible. The base is downstairs and one of the phones is up stairs and the phone does not get any reception. I have to walk to the middle of the staircase before the person on the other line can hear me. (My house is not large)

Also one of the phones is in the kitchen and when there is an incoming call it won't let you answer it...

These phones are a waste of money!!!

I had a set of these in my old house for about 3 years. The were very easy to set-up since only one of them needs to be plugged into a phone jack.

When we moved into a bigger house, I needed more phones so I just bought another set of these, plugged them in wherever I need them, and now I have seven interchangeable handsets all over the house. I didn't need to worry about phone jacks being in the right places, and I don't need to worry about putting the right handset in the right base because they're all interchangeable. Easy, and durable.

I researched all the phones out there for over 2 weeks and finally settled on another Vtech phone. I accidentally threw away a handset from my prior Vtech and so had to replace the whole unit since it was several years old. Almost impossible to find one with a backlit keypad which was a must for me. This system has far more features than I will ever use. It was easy for me to set up what I needed, most of it without referring to the manual and I am technically challenged. The sound is clear and the extra features on the answering unit, like a keypad and number of messages received is a plus compared to some of the other phones out there. My only regret is that it does not take regular rechargeable batteries that my other Vtech used but since I keep my extensions on their chargers, I expect I will not have to replace them for a long time. Very satisfied with this purchase!

On the good side, I liked the ability to speed dial commonly used numbers by entering a single digit and pressing dial.

But then there are the poorly designed features: Commonly used numbers must be entered in each handset, as well as date, time, etc.

Also, when talking to a party, it is not permitted to give a second handset to a person nearby and have that person join in on the conversation. One handset is supported at a time.

After a few hours of use, I discarded these phones and bought a set made by Panasonic.

This phone is horrible. Before this phone, I had a panasonic cordless for like 10 years. It worked great, but the buttons began to fail. I wanted a cheap one, so despite the bad reviews for this product, I thought, "I will be different." plus, it was very cheap. Well, it's cheap b/c it sucks. There is constant static when I'm using it, and changing the channels on it won't help at all. The speakerphone feature, which was the main reason I got this one, is awful. It is hard to hear the other person even when it's on the highest volume setting. You have to hold the phone up to your mouth, which defeats the purpose of speakerphone! I would return this phone, but returns are always a big hassle. And also, while I was getting a new phone, I wouldn't have use of a phone in my house. And also, it would cost like $10 to ship it back, and the phone is like $20, so it's pointless. In conclusion, don't buy this phone. It's a piece of junk.

This is one of the cheaper phones we found that includes a mute button, so that you can yell across the house to your son that his friend's on the phone, without the friend hearing you. It also has speaker capability. We have voicemail from the phone company, and the screen says "new message" when there's a new message.

So... if you're on speakerphone and you click speakerphone again to disable it... it hangs up. Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb...

On top of that - it makes constant background noise. Changing channel does not help.

But... it's the phone I'm stuck with. Once you remember not to hang up on people and you're in the same room as the base, it works OK.

It has an attractive contemporary appearance that reminds me of the way cell phones used to look. The numbers are large - easy to see and easy to dial. It has a distinct, pleasant, easy-to-hear ring. We have not yet tried all the features, such as caller ID, conferencing, and call waiting. Time will tell how well this telephone works, but so far I am very pleased.

I bought this phone largely based on the very positive reviews on amazon. First I bought an open box item on an auction site, as the seller said they'd tested all the basic functions. The battery was too old to hold a charge and even after replacing that the unit would not communicate with the base unit, even after "reregistering" it. Was out $47, as they had no returns of open box items. So I came back to amazon and bought a "new" one from a 3rd party vendor. Although the box seemed sealed, it did not contain a battery and the "quick setup" guide wasn't in the box either. Not sure it was all that new.

Bottomline, I'm not sure you can find a functioning unit and I will not be buying another. Too bad because it seemed like a good phone and I don't need multiple handsets.

This little phone is pretty cheap, and it works great! The answering system (which is one of the main reasons that I bought this phone) works flawlessly; you can have a large number of messages on the phone at once as well as a decently long answering message. The wireless range is really good, which is saying a lot considering that the dorm I live in is known for interfering with wireless signals and the like. I have found that the 5.8 GHz does not interfere with my computer wireless at all, which is very nice. On top of all this, the phone has many nice little features, such as numerous ringtones and flashing lights for when the phone rings. There are also some bells and whistles (such as Caller ID and downloadable ringtones) that I haven't taken advantage of yet. Basically, this phone has got it all for a cordless phone! Great system + affordable price = happy customer :)

One warning: You can't add other handsets to this base. That's OK for me because I wasn't planning to, but if you want to add more handsets in the future, you had better find another model.

My hearing isn't as keen as it was a few years ago, so the "speaker phone" option is great, however,I agree with another response that I can't turn off the speaker while talking. Um, my daughter wanted to discuss my husband's birthday, so I had to go to another room and close the door, or, he could have heard our conversation. Oh, I just ordered another one as a gift to my sister in law from CA because she really likes my phone. I'm one gift ahead for Christmas 2008!! Anon Judie

I bought this phone about a yera and a half ago or so. I had been a sony phone fan, but they do not make phones anymore. After doing research all over the net, I decided to buy this panasonic model. It usually has great clarity, but over the past few months I have started to notice some static....but it comes and goes. The past week or so I have noticed a weird echo, that I absolutely can't deal with. But the phone is pretty cool. It has a bunch of different rings tones, and you can assign different ring tones to different callers. You can go to this web site and buy rings tone and they upload to the phone without having to use any connection to the computer. It has the digital answerer, which if you are in another room, you can use the handset to listen to the messages if you want to screen the calls. The handset is smallish, easy to hold. I leave it off the charger for DAYS and the battery never seems to get low. So overall I really liked the phone a lot until this weird echo business. Another thing that it could use....I also have voice mail, and use the answerer to over ride the voice mail by having it pick up on two rings if I really want to screen, but if I shut off the answerer to use my voice mail, the only way to know if I have voice mail is to pick up the phone and listen for the message dial tone. There's not a little light that blinks to tell you that you have a voice mail like my last two phones did. Oh well. I will see if the echo goes away, and if it doesn't, I will probably look for another panasonic.

I bought this phone in Mar 2006 from another store- after researching phones on Amazon like mad. Within 3 months the mic died, and people couldn't hear me. I sent it to Panasonic- at my expense- and was rewarded with a refurbished phone.

It is now July 2007 [11 months since receving a rfurbished phone]. Over the last weeks the phone began cutting off calls, making crackling noises during calls, the mic has died, it will not work with a Panasonic-brand headset. After trouble-shooting the phone by myself using the Panasonic manual, I then called Panasonic. They had me go through all the same steps.

The upshot? Phone is dead.

I'm very angry. I had originally bought a multi-handset Panasonic, and discovered the handsets couldn't be used simultaneously, the sound quality was awful- so returned that for this simpler phone.

Now I don't know WHAT to do. We also have the Uniden exai5580, and it makes the most awful 'whooshing' noises if we change position while holding it.

I feel as though these products are made to have a short life.

We love this phone! We did break the first one, my wife dropped it (after about 30 previous drops) and for some reason the ear piece quit working. We found a refurbished unit on Amazon for $30 and replaced it :)

Answering machine is perfect, it's very easy to use, digital, and has instantaneous button reaction if you don't want to listen to a certain message (you can skip messages like on a DVD player, NEXT, NEXT, NEXT).

Buy it, I recommend it!

No better than the old 900 Mhz phone as far as DSL interference. Bought "refurbished" and got no belt clips. The phones looked rather used. I wrote to the seller about getting a clip so I could use the headset jack (which DOES work quite well) but I got no answer from him.

This phone worked okay for the first two years - nothing spectacular. By the third year it began to slowly and painfully die. The batteries held less and less power and eventually you could not use the speaker-phone & mute together or it would shut-off for a second, then return but with mute turned off.

I would not buy this phone again.

First set was defective, actually just the one handset. Was quickly replaced and the new one works fine. The great thing about this phone is the capability of transferring the phone book (which can easily be added to by the caller id list) to each handset with just a few buttons. Sound quality is ok, not fantastic but good. The other cool feature is that you can assign ring tones to individual numbers. Otherwise, the phone is pretty simplistic and works as expected.

I bought these phones based on other reviews on here, and they were right. These are great phones, especially the speakerphone option. I've had people tell me that they can't even tell I'm on speakerphone. The only complaint I have is the 3 black buttons along the bottom, which have the function printed behind the clear button extremely hard to read and they do not light up like the other buttons. You have to memorize which one does what. This is the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

I do like this pair of phones. My only complaint is I do talk alot while multitasking and you CANNOT put this phone on your shoulder and talk without hitting the off button. This still drives me crazy and I forget and hang up on people at least once a week. Other than that it has been very sturdy and I love the intercoms from phone to phone. The battery seems to last a while too.

Read all the other reviews as I did then order this phone. Excellent features, sound quality and ease of use, for the price it is outstanding. I had problems with the speaker phone feature on my previous cordless (keys refused to work after three years), with this 6725 you can put the phone on your desk and the people on the other end say it is like speaking directly into the phone, plus it is equally clear for me to listen to them. Footprint on your counter/desk is so small, great to have it out of the way. No answering machine but who cares, my vonage account has voice mail through my computer. Great cordless at a spectacular price, I shopped and could not find it any cheaper on the net.

These phone are very sturdy, they have a ton of features (speakerphone and backlit keys are 2 of my favorite), they are very easy to setup, and they work great. One of the neat things is that you can program directory numbers on one phone and hey automatically synchronize with the other one so that you do not have to type in the directory numbers twice.

Hooray for technology!

I would strongly recommend these phones to others.

I have had these phones for several years, and have had very few problems. First the good: range is great, even well outside the house. One handset was chewed up and buried outside by the dog, and after I found it, got it cleaned up and dried out, it still worked! Answering machine is reliable. I like the ability to program a different ring for some callers. The only negative point is the flimsy handset antennae cover piece that is easily broken off and lost, but the phone seems to work OK without it.

We had purchased this system previously for our home and we recently purchased another one for my Mother's house. The new system replaced an older one plus an answering machine. The system works great and has excellent range. My Mother can sit outside on her patio and make phone calls with no problem. She is happy and so are we!

I'm looking around now to replace all of our phones (thinking Panasonic) and thought I'd check to see what this phone's reviews had been. I bought this phone to replace my older 2.4 GHz phone that quit working. This one's a loser. It works only in adjoining rooms - forget about going upstairs or outside. If you are more than about 20 feet away from the base unit there is considerable static on the line. If you are 30 feet away, there isn't even a dial tone.

This one's junk - don't waste your money.

You'd think that because these phones have a higher GHz, that the sound would be of decent quality...NOT! These phones have bad static and when I am on the phone, I am questioned about where I am! Ridiculous! The Uniden 2.4 GHz is a wonderufl phone compared to this one, never had any problems of the 3 years I had them, however after then, they just went dead on me, I had the expandable ones (2.4) and only one just stopped working. So I would go with the 2.4 before I went with the 5.8. Awful quality and sound!!! Do not waste your money!

we have had the Uniden 8865-2 wireless phone for over 3 years now and it works great. am surprised others have had problems with reception. we have a 5000 sq ft home and i get great reception anywhere in the house...basement, 2nd floor, etc. i can even go outside in the driveway, on the front stoop. highly recommend...i would buy another uniden in a heartbeat. I previously bought panasonics and those phones need work.

I wanted to wait awhile before I wrote my review. I wanted to really test this phone out before I sent words in an email. I must say I am completely satisfied with this phone. The ease of use and the clarity are just some of it's features.

Last night, I finally figured out how to redial a telephone number out of your own area code from caller ID. My old Uniden would allow me to find the telephone number through Caller ID, then push #1 and then talk. The number would be dialed. This phone doesn't work that way. You must first find the out of area phone number through Caller ID, then push the * button, then push Talk, the phone number will be dialed. I was very happy because I was trying to figure this out for awhile.

I don't know if the manuel covers this feature. If it does I didn't find it. After finding what I was looking for I decided it was time for my review. Now I can't find anything I don't like on this telephone. The speaker phone feature is absolutely wonderful...loud and clear! I would recommend this telephone to anyone.

Owned the base unit & one handset for 8 months. About once a month the unit would stop working. Proceeded to unplug the unit and let sit for awhile then reconnect. Unit would be fine for another month then would have to repeat the process. This last time the phone would not function at all. Tech support could not figure out the problem. Was told someone would call me which of course never happened. Could never get in touch with tech support again, constantly on hold. Removed the battery & trashed the unit.

We purchased this phone mainly for the 5.8GHz technology to reduce interference with our wireless internet connection. We are using this phone with Packet8's VoIP phone service, and have seen lots of improvement in voice quality. I would recommend this phone for any person using a VoIP service or needing multiple cordless handsets.

I kept this phone one week and returned it to Amazon and bought a Panasonic BB GT1540B. This Uniden does not have a mult-color lcd handset screen, you only have a choice of 3 monocolors. The wall mount is awkward with the phone sticking out from the wall. The phone directory holds a lot of numbers but is difficult to use - when you flip through your list it has a tendency to slip and you dial the wrong number. The CID list does not show the time of the call so it's pretty much useless. The CD that's supposed to do a lot was unloadable because I had a "warning" from my virus software that the CD might harm my computer. So, buy this phone at your own risk.

Well I was surprised to see that my favorite phone was still being offered for sale after all these years. That's rare for an electronic device. I was a little dismayed by the many negative one-star reviews and so I decided to express my opinion on this fine device that I've had for three years or so. I won't repeat all the other review info, but I will try to clarify the important points that I have experience with. I would have rated it 4 stars, but I felt I have to offset the ridiculous 1 star reviews with a 5 star rating.

I have a large 2 story home and the reception is good unless I place the base at the far end of a room upstairs. For example, if the base is placed at the far right end of a room upstairs, the reception is spotty at the far left end of my kitchen downstairs. So I guess I have found the limit of the phone's reception in my home. The headsets doesn't have any problem with reception(with the base) when used outside the house or garage. The range in the front and back yard is remarkable. The bottom line is that the reception will depend on the construction of your home. My solution was to move the base closer to the middle of the house instead of the furthest corner of the room to the right or left of the house.I will admit my old $399 Panasonic phone system did not have this problem.

The battery issues are not entirely the fault of the phone. If I rated products by the performance of their batteries with one star, then everything would be worthless. When our electronics and laptops come equipped with bigger, longer lasting batteries, then we complain about the increased weight and size. Someday in the future, battery technology will satisfy us I hope. Some of my handsets burn through batteries and need replacements every year. Some of my lesser used handsets have lasted over two years. I have six headsets so I purchased about 10 batteries over the years. I have two unused batteries left, but it's not a problem to buy another supply of them because I find them on Amazon for about $6 each. The ones at Uniden cost about $10 each. Only the one that I bought at Uniden proved to be defective and wouldn't hold a proper charge after 6 months.

The point that I find amazing is how advanced and feature packed the Uniden CLX-485 phone system is. Color screens, PC USB compatible, ringtones, Outlook compatible, intercom and every bell and whistle imaginable. The list just goes on and on. I didn't see a long list of features like this on phones when I purchased my unit. I don't see many home phones listing features like this now, three years later. The typical cellphone is far more advanced than most home phones. I would suggest that a person comparison shopping should download the user manual and compare all the comparable phones. That's how I shop and it works just fine.

Here are the cons that I have experienced:

1) The labeling and some operations of the base control buttons, etc. make it confusing at times to use if you're using it instead of a handset.

2) The range and battery life could be better. I've seen better and I've seen worse. I prefer better!

3) If you select a phone number to call back in the stored "redial" and stored "caller id" list the phone won't add the "1" to phone numbers with area codes that not the same as yours. This was a real inconvenience to me for years. Last years I learned from another reviewer, here at Amazon, how to correct this problem. Press the joystick down to select number, press the "*" on the keypad and the "1" is magically added to the selected number for you to call. Maybe it's documented in the manual somewhere but I didn't know about it for the first two yearsI owned the phone.

4) It seemed like this phone model was not created by Uniden. Years ago when I was looking for updates, etc. it looked like this and another similar group of Uniden phones were created by some another company. None of the other Uniden phones had the same set of advanced features. I believe the software may have had one update but that was the extent of support. Many of the issues with the usability and problems seem to be what you find on electronic devices before the firmware and/or software updates that are usually done. I will admit that it's not perfect, but it's minor things that seem like it would have been easy to correct. I could be wrong but I don't think Uniden will be able to update any of the features so what you see is what you get. Thank goodness everything works reasonably well.

Well that's all I have and I hope it helps. I haven't kept up with the updates on this model from Uniden or other competing models so you should do your own updated research. It's a very good phone and I have been very satisfied with it's performance over the years. I thought by now all phones would have all the features this phone has and more. If you love advanced, feature rich gadgets you'll love this phone. If you don't care about the advanced features and range and battery life is all you care about, then I suggest that you try it first or look for a different phone system (you might be better off with a cell phone). We have had our system with 8 phones and chargers located throughout the house and garages four years now. Only problem we have had is lately we have had to replace batteries in some of the phones. After four years, not a bad deal. We are very happy with ours.

I paid around $100 to purchase one of this and battery went bad in 7/8 months and called uniden and they say batteries have three months warranty and i have to buy new one's out of my pocket. It's a shame that a product for such price has such a poor quality battery. I've seen lot of cheap product costs below $30 lasts more than 2 years. So why should someone pay such price and pay again for batteries so soon. I would say its a bad product. Not worth the money you pay. having some fancy feature does not make a product good if it does not server your basic purpose. Also there is no customer service number in their web page. Email does not guarantee any reasonable answer. I would say, stay away from Uniden product.

Yes, it is small - since I mounted it on a wall jack under a counter, the buttons could be bigger and better laid out, but that's mostly due to my location. Battery has been great, sound quality is good enough. The CID features are a bit clumsy and I wish it had more memory. Orange display is very readable and pleasant to view. While I've worn off some of the lettering on the handset, it has served well for many hears - raised my opinion of Uniden for sure !

I have owned this phone system with 5 handsets for several years now and I love the system. It's sound quality is excellent as are all the features. Just one little ( OK two) quirks, when storing a number from someone calling to your phone there is no place or way of inserting a "1" prefix when storing to the address book,in other words you must write down the phone # then enter it manually with the prefix

I LOVE THIS PHONE! I have had this system in my home for almost two years now. The quality of the reception and speaker phone is second to none. I used to be able to cover up the handset and actually make comments without them being heard. Not with this phone. Your caller can hear pretty much anything that's going on in the room, including if you're chewing something. The mute button is used quite a bit here. I love the privacy features, where you can block others from eavesdropping on the other phones. I have recommended this phone to several people. I've never had a better phone.

The only complaint, there is a significant reduction in talk time on a couple of the handsets. I imagine I'll need to purchase batteries.

Other than that, this is an excellent phone and well worth the cost.

Ordered from Chumbadeals for a Christmas present on 7 Dec when it was labeled as "in stock ships immediately." On 19 Dec. amazon.com let me know that the order had not even been confirmed by the vendor and that I should contact the company directly. I did. This was their reply:

If it wasn't for amazon's follow-through, I would not have known and I seriously doubt the vendor would have notified me. So kudos to amazon and a big thumbs down to Chumbadeals.

Beware, per Panasonic's website, this is a ONE line phone. Still, I own several Panasonic cordless phones and they are quite simply THE BEST there is. After spending years with other brands, Panasonic definitely won me over and continues to do so.

I bought this phone about 2 weeks for myself mainly because I was curious about the talking caller-id. It works well and pronounces the name accurately to my surprise. I then got one for my mother who loves it. She told my aunt about it, now she wants one. I guess I'll be buying another one for her. Initially I was concerned because the volume was low even though I had it turned up to the max. After a few days it started getting louder. Now it's loud and clear. The same thing is true for the phone I got for my mother. She like the handset because it's light and fits comfortably in her hands. This phone has great features and is easy to use and set up.
