We have had these for a couple of years, I'm just back now looking for a replacement battery. I saw the low number of reviews, and thought I'd take the time to say how happy we have been with these. Great phones. Nothing special, they just work. All the time. Period.
I'd buy Vtech again for sure.

The VTech MI6896 has virtually everything you could want in a home phone system. Four handsets, each with speakerphone and phone to phone intercom. Shared rapid calling directory (each phone sees the same directory). Large backlit keys make middle of the night calling a breeze, even for old eyes. Great audio performance, both speakerphone and conventionally. A remote access digital answering machine in the base. The 5.8GHz spread spectrum system doesn't interfere with anything else in your house. Well designed, well made. And through Amazon, very affordable.
